Happy Birthday, Pepi!

A Brass Rose
- for Pepi

Yali Li
August 31, 2009

With your birthday around
I am searching for a good metaphor
For your image in my mind.

You are always on the mountain top
But hold a valley in your heart
For new knowledge and friendship.

You live alone
But keep your place a busy hub
For friends from every continent.

You travel all over the world
But pour your passion to hometown
For traditions and spirits continued.

You brew and you drink
But remain a sober thinker
For things on track.

You listen more and speak less
But stand firmly for justice
For love and peace.

You have in fact created your image
But present as brass rose, an oxymoron
For a combination of strength, beauty, devotion, and much more.

Dancing With Wings

Dancing With Wings

August 23, 2009

Li,Yali Li

I had a dream with wings

Flapping to dance unearthly

Please close your eyes

I want to take you there.

I pushed my way among the stars

Hearing exotic song intermittently

I found you from behind the clouds

Your happy surprise everyone could hear!

We danced to the moon in circles

Vibrating wings flickeringly

I made a garland for you with stars

Your beauty nothing could compare.

We danced to the top of woods

Twinkling stars and moon hopping simultaneously

You made me a garland with fireflies

Our moves started the woods to glare.

We danced on a pond of lotus

Glittering moons and stars inside dew drops rolling swiftly

Sparks leapt on shimmering water in rhythms

We finally immerged when darkness started to disappear.
